14 – 18 Year Old Young People in Need in England
The Research Team at The Children’s Legal Centre is currently working on a research project, funded by 11 Million, on the provision of services by Local Authorities in England to young people aged 14 – 18 years who are in need.
The purpose of the research is to understand how Children’s Services Departments deal with such referrals and the services that they are able to offer to this age group. The research will also focus in detail on the relationship between Children’s Services and other service providers, such as housing, health and education, in meeting children’s needs; the extent to which this age group of children are taken into the looked-after system; and the extent to which alternative means of providing for children at risk of significant harm are employed.
State of the Right to Education in England
The Research Team is currently undertaking a research project which assesses the extent to which the international right to education has been implemented in England. The research will be used to produce a shadow report, which will be submitted to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child as part of its periodic review of the UK Government’s implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
