Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) is looking for an OISC level 3/IAAS level 2 accredited legal adviser to undertake outreach legal advice work for its Migrant Children’s Project. As a key part of the Migrant Children’s Project, this role will involve extensive outreach legal advice work, including appointments at a range of locations across Greater London, with a focus on the London Borough of Ealing. The role will involve providing holistic legal advice on immigration, asylum and nationality; support, accommodation and local authority duties; healthcare; education and related issues to hard-to-reach migrant children, young people, families and carers, as well completing exceptional funding applications and some pro bono casework. The advice work will encompass onward referral and signposting, including to the CCLC’s legal practice unit, other solicitors and other services as appropriate.
The role is part of the Supported Options Initiative, a programme of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Unbound Philanthropy, which supports innovation in helping children and young people with irregular immigration status to live full lives.

The Paralegal/ Legal Advisor role will be within the centre’s Child Law Advice Line service, funded by the Department for Education. The service aims to provide legal information and advice to over 120,000 parents, carers and young people each year. This is provided via a range of mediums including free downloadable factsheets on our website, free access to our virtual assistant which can help locate useful information, and free one to one legal advice with a legally trained advisor via the telephone.
Your primary role will be to advise parents, carers and young people who are experiencing difficulties accessing legal advice and representation in the areas of Family, Child and Education law. You will join a team of experienced legal advisors responsible for providing legal advice via our free telephone helpline. The successful applicant will hold a law degree, or relevant qualification in Child, Family or Education Law and ideally have experience of providing advice in a relevant field of law.
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week including 1 hour unpaid lunch break. Shifts are 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, between 8am and 8pm.
