Child and family legal practice

Coram Children's Legal Centre's child and family law department has expanded rapidly over the last 10 years. We provide legal representation to children throughout England and have an outstanding reputation as a child-centred practice, renowned for our high standards of work and professionalism.

We have taken on test cases where there are few judicial precedents, and where the statute or guidance involved was unclear. We have excelled at taking urgent cases involving homeless young people. Many of our clients are children or young people looked after by local authorities.

We can offer help in the following areas:

  • Local authority duties towards children and young people
  • Care proceedings
  • Child protection issues
  • Residence and contact.

If you need to speak to a legal adviser for free, confidential advice, try one of our helplines. Alternatively, the CCLC has produced a range of free factsheets and FAQs as well as a glossary of legal terms.
