R (on the application of A) v Secretary of State for the Home Department - The Secretary of State accepted that he was not entitled to detain A as an adult relying on an informal, unreasoned and imprecise assessment of age carried out by an emergency duty social services team, and dismissing a consultant paediatrician's assessment that A was a child.
