What if I do not trust the non-resident parent?

What if I do not trust the non-resident parent?

If the resident parent has concerns about contact, for example

- If they feel uneasy about where the non-resident parent will take the child or who the child will meet whilst having contact;

- perhaps there is a concern because the child does not have a good relationship with the non-resident parent and is reluctant to go;

- or maybe the child is young and the non-resident parent is not able to cope,

then it is possible to agree that contact should take place at the home of another person, or in the presence of someone else. It is common in these situations for the parents to agree that a grandparent, relative or mutual friend should be present during contact.

It is also possible to agree that contact should take place at a contact centre. For more information about contact centres, contact the National Association of Child Contact Centres on 0845 4500 280 or click here to visit the website.
