School meetings and records

Parents are entitled to attend school meetings and obtain school records. Parents have a right to participate in decisions about a child’s education, even though for day to day purposes the school’s main contact is likely to be the parent with whom the child lives with on school days. Schools must treat parents equally unless there is a court order limiting a person’s parental responsibility or contact with the child.
