What if Children's Services investigate further?

What if Children's Services decide to make a further investigation?

If Children's Services decide that a further investigation is needed after the initial assessment then they will begin an enquiry. The power for social services to carry out this enquiry comes from section 47 of the Children Act 1989 and the process may be referred to simply as a 'section 47 enquiry’.

In cases where Children's Services believe there is a serious risk, they may take emergency action to protect the child. This could include removing the child from his or her home.
