Child Protection Questions and Answers

Do I have to let Children's Services speak to my child?

If Children's Services suspect my child has been abused, do I have to let them speak to my child?

Children's Services will want to speak to the child alone, unless the child is very small. If a parent refuses then Children's Services are likely to take further action.

Children's Services must consider the child’s wishes and feelings when deciding what action should be taken in a section 47 enquiry. To be able to do this successfully, a social worker will need to speak to the child involved.
