The Children’s Legal Centre operates a revolutionary Child and Family Law Department which has expanded rapidly over the last ten years. We have an outstanding reputation as a child centred practice and are renowned for our high standard of work and professionalism. We provide representation to children throughout England and operate a telephone and e-mail advice service throughout the world and have very ambitious plans for the future.
We are a leader in the field of legal representation for children, based in Essex. The main focus of our legal team is to ensure that legal advice and representation is provided on child and family law issues to a variety of clients, including children and young people, their carers, parents and professionals working with children.
The centre has excelled in taking urgent cases involving homeless young people and test cases where there are few judicial precedents, and where the statute or guidance involved is unclear or has not been interpreted by the courts. Our lawyers work closely with the advocacy service set up to support young people. Many of our clients are children or young people “looked after” by local authorities.
Please note that the Children's Legal Centre does not provide advice on criminal offences or juvenile justice.
The website is designed to provide legal information to children, young people, parents, carers and professionals in a user-friendly manner and to provide answers to frequently asked questions in the following areas:
