How long will it take to get a residence order?
This is impossible to say for certain, but it is likely to take between six months and a year to obtain a residence order. A number of court appearances will also be required. If the case is particularly complicated then it can take longer. If the child is thought to be at risk of harm or there is a need for an interim residence order, this can be made through the courts within a day.
