It is common for witnesses to feel nervous. It is advisable to seek further support from a teacher, social worker, the police or a child witness supporter if a child:
• is often upset, afraid or angry;
• feels responsible and guilty for the crime or for making the case to go court;
• shows mixed feelings towards the defendant;
• becomes withdrawn, careless or unable to concentrate at home or school;
• shows any anxieties such as biting nails, wetting the bed, not sleeping properly, becoming afraid of the dark or losing his or her appetite.
